Knowing the real-time guest status of a room, whether in regards to housekeeping services or property energy management, is essential for both guest comfort and operations efficiency.
Accurate guest status identification is a core component of an Integrated Room Automation System. Not only does it naturally include occupancy detection, but more importantly, it also reports guests' needs to the system. These may be as simple as a request for privacy or as involved as adjustments to in-room device function to assist the disabled. Guests' needs may also include language preferences or technology restrictions based on religious beliefs.
For guest status to be effectively identified, reported and acted upon, certain devices must be in place that can detect occupancy and respond to the status as programmed. Depending on the system design, they must also recognize whether the room is rented, receive requests from the guest and hotel staff, and communicate with one another and the central server.
Examples of guest status applications:
INNtouch™ is a convenient, easy way for guests to display their privacy and service needs. From the comfort of the room, the guest simply presses a button to discreetly notify staff of Make Up Room or Privacy requests. The system includes a corridor doorbell with a clear, traditional chime. When the guest selects Privacy, the chime is disabled and a backlit "Privacy" legend is displayed on the corridor plate, so staff will never have to knock or yell through the door. The system can easily be expanded to relay occupancy status and monitor mini-bar access.
Whether your guest has stepped out or checked out, your HVAC system is probably still working hard to keep the room comfortable. The INNCOM e4 Smart Digital Thermostat with occupancy detection accurately determines when to switch to energy-saving setbacks and when to switch back.
Only minimum installation is required to link our smart digital thermostats (and other in-room devices) to a central computer for maximum energy conservation. A comprehensive INNCOM Energy Management System has deeper setbacks for rooms that are unrented, as opposed to just unoccupied, and will typically reduce heating and cooling run times by 20–30%.
Keeping guests secure is a priority. The INNCOM Central Electronic Lock control System (CELS) enhances guestroom security with real-time, remote access control and monitoring. INNCOM CELS provides the hotel with instant access to room security status and the ability to promptly respond to situations such as door-ajar alerts or outside air ventilation emergencies.
Guest status reporting allows staff to execute their tasks more efficiently and without ever disturbing the guests. INNCOM's Integrated Room Automation Systems provide expedient notification of guest requests—Privacy/Make Up Room, butler, valet, food tray removal, emergency response, and more—directly to staff via a variety of in-room interface options, including tabletop consoles, wall switches, and the e4™ Smart Digital Thermostat.
INNcontrol II™, a fully automated guestroom control and communication system, gathers and manages the information from intelligent INNCOM room devices. Data is automatically processed by advanced INNCOM client/server software to generate notifications, data and reports for use by housekeeping, engineering, security and other hotel staff. For example, housekeeping can target rooms that are actually empty, room service can impeccably time delivery of champagne and fruit baskets to VIPs, and engineering can quickly swap out air filters as soon as a group of rooms becomes unoccupied. For even better guest service, the optional INNcontrol II™ tracking software allows the property to track and record requests for the trend analyses and CRM.
Guests with disabilities are entitled to your property's high standards of comfort and service. The INNCOM Integrated Room Automation System can be programmed to accept ADA guest status and provide functionality based on the nature of the disability. For example, the hearing-impaired can be alerted to the doorbell ringing by a special flash of the entry light, light scenes can be set brighter for the visually impaired, and the unlatch duration of the door lock can be extended to accommodate the physical disabiled. INNCOM will work with you to design a system that provides safety, security, and comfort for all your guests.
